Freya Logging Inc.

Committed to Implementing Sustainable Logging Practices

We are Freya Logging Inc.

At Freya Logging Inc we are committed to a culture change in logging operations in Canada. Focused on technological advancements and cultural changes, we strive to show our customers and neighbours how good forestry can be implemented. Our core competency is showing how a change of attitude will allow the forest industry to change their ways for the better at scale. By taking some, but not all, of the trees in the forest we can create lower fire hazard and higher biodiversity while creating jobs and stable families in Western Canada. Freya Logging Inc. is a logging contractor based in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, focused on sustainable forestry practices. Established in 2016, the company is owned and operated by four families with roots in Switzerland, Germany, and Sweden, bringing European logging techniques, such as commercial thinning, to the region. Their mission centers on transforming the logging industry in Canada by emphasizing environmental stewardship, biodiversity, and community well-being alongside economic viability. The company harvests approximately 350,000 cubic meters of wood annually, working with a variety of species including spruce, pine, fir, balsam, cedar, hemlock, aspen, and birch. Unlike traditional clear-cutting, Freya Logging prioritizes selective cutting and partial harvesting—taking some, but not all, trees from an area. This approach aims to reduce fire hazards, enhance forest health, and increase biodiversity, particularly benefiting species like moose and mule deer by improving their habitats. They supply logs to local customers such as Carrier Lumber, Sinclar Group’s Lakeland mill, Canfor (pulp wood), and West Fraser. Freya Logging employs around 25 people directly, with an additional 30-35 subcontractors, including truckers and mechanics, and up to 20 seasonal tree planters. Their operations utilize advanced equipment, including wheeled and track harvesters, forwarders, log loaders, excavators, bulldozers, and a mobile wood chipper (Albach Diamant 2000), which supports full fiber recovery for pellet plants and fireproofing efforts. Recent additions to their fleet include a Ponsse Elephant King and a Ponsse Bear, reflecting their investment in modern technology. Beyond logging, Freya Logging engages with local communities and First Nations, promoting environmental education and sustainable forestry practices. Their work is guided by a commitment to balance economic needs with ecological and social benefits, aiming to create healthier forests and stable livelihoods in Western Canada.

Established - 2016

We are a Prince George owned and operated logging company which has been in operation since 2016. Our commitment to sustainable harvesting practices we believe makes us unique. With experience in clear cutting, commercial thinning, partial retention, and selective harvesting methods, we possess the operational versatility to meet the demands of our clients. Annually, we harvest up to 350,000 cubic meters of wood. Most of our fibre comes from younger, suppressed forest stands, blowdown recovery, fireproofing, and more. We are proud to be leading the change in B.C. logging practices while simultaneously increasing biodiversity and helping create more old growth characteristics at a much younger age.
